sulfur

Saved For The End

One more bit of personal history. Many years ago I was personally involved in a project aimed at reducing smog caused by cars burning gasoline.

At the time I learned, to my amazement, that much of the smog was caused by an ingredient in gasoline that was actually the waste matter from bacteria that lived in crude oil. These amazing bugs actually live in the crude oil and can LIVE through the extremely high temperatures of crude oil refining, where crude oil is turned into gasoline. They live in your gasoline tank, and the gas companies put all sorts of "bactericides" into gasoline to kill them.

These bugs don’t require oxygen to live!

They eat sulfur! Crude oil contains a lot of sulfur. The bugs love it!

There is much more to tell you here, but I learned this, and forgot it, and re-learned it just this week. There are actually life-forms, small bacteria, that don’t require oxygen, can live in extremely high temperature situations, and eat sulfur in order to grow. As they eat this sulfur, they release waste products which, in a loose sense, become part of something called the "planetary sulfur cycle."

Planetary sulfur actually RECYCLES from the ocean to the sky and falls as rain, only to go back into the ocean to start the cycle again.

That’s a big subject, but I want you to know that there are those sulfur-eating bugs, eating sulfur, and that eventually their waste products go up into the sky and fall down on you as rain – containing, believe it or not: MSM! Finally, you see part of the title of this article. If you would stand out in the rain, you would soak up some MSM. Stay inside and you don’t get it!

The sulfur cycle also involves microscopic plants, plankton, living in the ocean. These plants "eat" the inorganic sulfur in the ocean water, and then release sulfur as part of their natural process of life. This sulfur escapes from the ocean water into the atmosphere, and rises to the upper altitudes where it meets with the ozone and ultraviolet light. These convert the sulfur (which was in the form of dimethylsufide) into MSM and DMSO, both of which are very soluble in water, and thus they RAIN down upon us.

Plants absorb these two different forms of sulfur very quickly. Eventually, these forms of sulfur are returned to less soluble forms, get washed back to the ocean and the cycle begins again, with the plankton "eating" these sulfur rocks, and feeding us MSM in our rain.

It is a remarkable process, and little appreciated. So, indeed, we have MSM falling on us every time it rains, but we don’t get enough of it because we insist on staying out of the rain, and cooking our food.

I’ve placed a brief glimpse of one of those related scientific reports on this in the footnote.  (See Footnote #28)
