Garden Orb Weaving Spider

Orb web weaving spiders are found throughout Australia. The common Garden Orb Weavers are from eastern and southern Australia. All orb weaving spiders make suspended sticky, wheel-shaped webs. Webs are placed in openings between trees and shrubs where insects are likely to fly.

Flower Spider

Flower spiders lie on flower petals and ambush their prey which consist of crawling and flying insects. They are common on native flowers such as Grevillea. Flower spiders are diurnal in their habits. Flower spiders are commonly found throughout eastern Australia.

Shield Huntsman
Neosparassus pictus

Shield Huntsman spiders are widely distributed in Australia. They are ground-dwellers that hunt their prey at night in the foliage. Shield Huntsman are easy prey for spider-hunting wasps.
