University Georgia?  Absolutely Fraudulent Research Report

It is almost impossible to believe that a famous university, the University of Georgia, has issued the false findings referenced here.  A reader sent me the following report, and asked for my comment.  I have published this report as my first action and will now pursue the truth of the matter.

I found the below report actually published at:  http://terepia.com/msm1.html The home page of this company is HERE -- they do not claim to make or sell MSM, but they do have two "articles" about it on their web.  One is HERE, the one sent to me by a reader, and the other HERE.

This means that, at least, the reader who sent me the report was telling a straight story, so I now move onto a further investigation.

Before I read this so-called "University of Georgia" report I had expected that I had a lengthy study and research project ahead of me.  When I searched the web for "University of Georgia Report MSM" I found not one single listing.

This Terepia company is spreading very misleading and deceitful information.  I have already exposed this set of lies about the two prominent US manufacturers -- Cardinal and Carolwood.  If you print it out, my report on their lies takes about 30 pages.  It is HERE and HERE.  The first link is one of my newsletters that went out to about 5,000 people. The truth about these liars is well publicized, but along comes some new company repeating the lies and many people have not had the benefit of reading my exposes.  In addition to the above very detailed exposes of the lies in this MSM industry, there more interspersed in the tripe from Terepia, below.

I sent them a couple questions and will publish whatever answer I get.  In fact, they did answer, and here it is:

Loren Troescher,

We apologies to not getting back to you sooner. Your E-mail was forwarded to me, since no one new what to make of it.

We do not want to mislead you. We do not manufacture the MSM. We use it for manufacturing only. We also do not want to compete by distributing MSM. Even if we believe we have a more superior product. We sell only ingredients that we manufacture. We also specialize in manufacturing liquid Nutraceuticals.

If you have any other interests or questions, I can be reached at 800-776-5438; ask for Raffi.

Best regards,

Raffi Dilsizian

CEO/Terepia International

Dear Raffi,

Thank you for your response.

I have published comments about the false claims you have published on your web site, and have also published your response, below, on one of my web pages:

http://www.bulkmsm.com/research/page26.htm

You certainly have a "right" to publish this type of stuff, but you must realize that both Cardinal and Carolwood have been carrying on a campaign of falsification of the source of MSM.  Your "report" from a University is, of course, non-existent except what may have been paid for by one of these two unethical companies, and then published on their web site.  I've noticed that many re-sellers, and users, of these MSM brands slavishly copy stuff from them with no independent judgment.

I would hope you would explore the truthfulness of the claims that you have taken, from elsewhere, and placed on your web site.

I'll be glad to publish any response.

Regards,

Loren C. Troescher
aka
Karl Loren

Basically I get tired of liars who repeat their lies, and then worry honest consumers into thinking that the MSM I sell is, somehow, inferior.

I could go through the entire exercise again, on this page, but I've done it already.

Let me just say that all MSM is made in the exact same way -- from the waste product of the paper industry.  The two US manufacturers don't want to admit that truth, so they use clever little deceptions to make you think that THEIR MSM is made from "trees."

Bosh!

Of course it is made from trees.  Trees are cut down, chipped into small pieces, then these pieces are covered with sulfuric acid to soften them.  The liquid is drained off and the chips go on to be made into paper.  That stuff that is drained off? That is the raw material from which MSM is made. There is ONLY one process.  Must of the claims of "bad stuff" are foolish -- for instance the claim of "fillers?"  Crazy.

My MSM is 99.5% pure MSM and 0.5% moisture.  No fillers.  Fillers can be added but they add to the cost of the material.

Another deceptive claim made the the other two US manufacturers is that they have the ONLY patented MSM. This is bosh.  I have every patent ever issued about MSM on my web site.  I won't take two minutes to show how foolish their patent claim is -- I've written it in many other places.

I get angry at these companies, and have no sympathy for the customers who swallow their lies.

I want to state here, as an overall statement about this entire page, that the contents indicated as MINE, Karl Loren, are my strongly felt opinion.

Karl Loren

All MSM is not Created Equal

1.University Georgia Analyses Confirms that the MSM used by TEREPIA INTERNATIONAL, INC. is a Natural Form of MSM

[Karl Loren Note:  This is pure tripe.  First the word "natural" has zero meaning as I have written years ago, here.  Either the University of Georgia has lost is senses, or they never used this word.  This line says that it is the MSM which is "used" by Terepia.  What does that mean.  It is pure psychobabble -- a word that has meaning, but used in a context where the word has no possible meaning.  The majority of our society have had such terrible education, particularly in the teaching of reading, that they are incapable of seeing the stupidity of the above line.]

2. How can you tell what you are buying an organic source pine MSM? Does the fossil fuel MSM have benefits like the natural pine MSM? Is there any long-term side effect from fossil fuel MSM? A radiocarbon and stable isotope ratio analyses of MSM has concluded "there is no addition or dilution with fossil fuel-derived material," according to Randy Culp, research coordinator, University of Georgia. This test, which is a carbon dating procedure, confirms that MSM used by us is an all-natural source of MSM. A fossil fuel source would indicate if the MSM is synthetic.

[Karl Loren Note:  More pure tripe.  There is zero 'inorganic" MSM being made anywhere.  So, why would you worry that you might not be getting "organic" MSM.  Furthermore the word "organic" has no meaning -- it is a valid word used officially, with MSM, but it means nothing more than there is carbon in the substance.  It does NOT mean that it came from some source that was alive a few days ago.

Fossil Fuel MSM?  This term, like many other lies, appears to have originated with Carolwood -- one of the two companies that make very deceptive claims about MSM.  This phrase was invented by Carolwood -- it has no other origin.  It is pure psychobabble.  Now many others will copy it.

http://www.msm.com/articleDetail.cfm?AID=14 is the address on the Carolwood web site where this same foolish "study" is referenced.

If you gave ANY credence to a form of MSM manufactured from coal, for instance, you would have to believe that 1,000 plus 1,000 equals 2.  MSM is cheap.  It is cheap because it is made from a cheap raw material.  The amount of MSM contained in fossil fuel would be so small and the job of extracting it so huge that it would never be even tried.

It angers me to see grown men write this junk, and other grown men take it seriously.

The term "natural pine" as a source of the MSM made by Carolwood is deceitful and misleading.  MSM is made from the waste of paper making.  Most paper is made from pine trees because pine tress grow fast and are cheap.  The term "natural pine" is pure tripe -- psychobabble.  The word "natural" used there is an emotional word to make you think their stuff is better than others.

It is not!

These tricksters say, "Is there any long-term side effect from fossil fuel MSM?"

Where in the whole wide world does anyone find "fossil fuel MSM?"  Nowhere!

This is like saying, "Our MSM is tested and certified to contain no arsenic.  Any MSM that is offered for sale and does not have an "arsenic free" certification is suspect. Where does this come from? The head of a mad nut!

There is this guy, Randy Culp, research coordinator, University of Georgia.  I hope he finds this crazy claim by Carolwood, and is embarrassed.  Yes, he is there.  I'll bet if you write to him he will not know what foolishness he has lent his name to.

Randy A. Culp, Research Coordinator (706) 542-6122 rculp@arches.uga.edu

I suggest you send him a message and ask him if he has seen how his name is being used.  CLICK HERE to send him a message.

It may be hidden on the Carolwood web site, but the very probable truth is that Carolwood is NOT a US company, and that the "factory" where their MSM is manufactured is not believed to be owned by them, that it is in Georgia (??) and that have a private deal with the true owner of the Georgia factory to make the MSM for Carolwood, and that this factory buys all its raw material from a factory in China in which the Carolwood executives have a financial interest.  I state all of this as my opinion.

The crazy paragraph above includes, " A fossil fuel source would indicate if the MSM is synthetic.

Well, of course, a carbon dating procedure would show that the carbon in the material as "old" perhaps a million years.  That old carbon could not have come from trees that grew this year or this century.  But, no such "fossil fuel source" of MSM has ever been known to exist in a form of MSM powder.  Yes, it would exist in coal -- yes the carbon dating of coal could show that the carbon is old, but taking the MSM out of coal would be impossible under any practical procedure.  Yes, a loose word, "synthetic" could mean that MSM was extracted from something like coal, and yes any such (impossible MSM) would show up in carbon dating. Dr. Culp has, apparently, not lied, but he has lent his name, and the prestige of his great university to a commercial fraud.

Do not be fooled by any other testing, or company hype about pine wood and rain water.

[Karl Loren Note:  Another terrible embarassment for Carolwood, is that they have NEVER had their MSM certified as being pure MSM by any well-known independent testing lab.  Vibrant Life is the ONLY company that has certificates of analysis and purity from SGS, the world's largest independent testing lab -- with offices and lab facilities in more than 100 countries.

The molecular structure of fossil fuel DMSO and Pine DMSO are the same. This makes it impossible to determine the difference with regular testing. Certificate of analysis will not tell us the source of the DMSO. The only procedure to confirm the source of the DMSO of your MSM is Carbon Dating.

[Karl Loren Note:  Here is more junk stuff.  This is true, but besides any point of value.  There is no MSM made from fossil sources -- so there would never be any need for this carbon dating test.  However, if someone wanted to test the Vibrant Life MSM, or any other MSM made anywhere on the planet, the carbon dating test would reveal no fossil fuel source.  None!

ABSORPTION

Organic MSM used by Terepia International is highly bio-available v Inorganic

[Karl Loren Note:  Since "inorganic" MSM does not exist it is pure tripe to make this statement.

To be properly absorbed and play a useful role in the body, it's essential that minerals are in a form that can be readily assimilated and used at the cellular level. MSM extracted from organic source (organic - from living source) is highly bio-available, compatible at the cellular level, and beneficial to health.

Karl Loren Note:  Well, here is more of the same tripe.  The definition of "organic" above was true a few hundred years ago, but as I have reported on another page, the definition was changed so that now "organic" means that the substance contains carbon.  Coal is organic, in this sense, since it was originally living -- so these tricksters have now started talking out of both sides of their mouths.

Synthetic Minerals have to be oxidized in the body to become bio-available. Since organic minerals do not have to be oxidized, they are much more bio-available.

There has not been any long term testing of the synthetic MSM. But the consumption of four to ten grams of synthetic MSM a day for the rest of one's life is not advisable.

[Karl Loren Note: There has been no long term testing of synthetic MSM because it does not exist.]

MSM FROM CHINA AND FRANCE
n an interview with Larry King on the American CNN TV Network, Dr Ronald M Lawrence - a leading advocate for the use of MSM warned about the impure grades of MSM which are currently being imported from China and the Far East.

[Karl Loren Note:  I happen to know a great deal about Chinese MSM.  It is my opinion that Carolwood hides the fact that it gets its raw material for making MSM from China. The single producer of DMSO in the US was not, when I investigated, selling any DMSO to Cardinal -- the other US manufacture.  I am confident that Cardinal imports and sells Chinese MSM to blend with its US stuff -- both of these companies, I believe, have hidden secrets.

I have had, indeed, many offers to me from China -- I do not deal with them because I don't like their politics.  MSM can very easily be tested as to purity so that cannot be a reason for turning them down.  Their stuff is also very cheap because the Chinese government subsidizes the Chinese manufactures of MSM in order to earn hard currency.  If you buy Chinese stuff you are helping the enemy.  I charge both Cardinal and Carolwood of doing just that.

In making this comment it should be understood that no disrespect is intended toward any of the Far East Countries or the products they produce! Among other things, they produce many fine, high quality and well engineered electronic products. We are commenting here only about the MSM currently being imported from these Countries which unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired regarding purity!

[Karl Loren Note: You wonder why they beg forgiveness from China?  They do business, secretly, with China, just as France has been doing billions of dollars worth of business with Iraq.

MSM and DMSO from Fossil Fuel and not Pine Wood

Most forms of MSM imported from China, India, Europe and some US are synthetic. Every MSM manufacturer and supplier and retailer explains the history of MSM evolving from the ocean waters and eventually falling from the sky as in rainwater. But they forget to confirm if their DMSO is derived from fossil fuel and not from Natural source of pine wood.

[Karl Loren Note: Paper is made in every area of the world.  China manufactures a great deal of paper.  Whenever you make paper there are many different costs. The waste water from the process had been, for many years, discarded as useless until the value of DMSO and MSM were discovered.  You can be sure that no one in China is throwing away the tons and tons of DMSO waste water from their paper industry.  Also, there is no technology for taking DMSO or MSM out of coal, or crude oil.  Crude oil is worth far more than DMSO.  I sell MSM, manufactured in India, put into drums, shipped to the US, for as low as $3.00 for one pound.  Do you think someone could buy crude oil, currently at $35 per barrel, and pay the costs for recovering something worth only $2 per pound?  No!

Synthetic DMSO MSM used primarily in animal feeds (animal grade MSM), has found it's way into nutritional supplements suppliers

[Karl Loren Note:  To the best of my knowledge there has never been produced anything called "animal grade MSM."  When you use the web to search for "animal grade MSM" you find all the same people who are creating these lies in the first place.

No manufacturer will supply this information unless they are using the real Pine DMSO for their source.

Until it can be ascertained that high quality MSM is available from the Far East it would be wise to avoid it!

NOTE: Some of the best herbal extracts and raw materials have come from the far east. Unfortunately DMSO and MSM are not one of them. We do not want to prejudice the consumer in any way.

Animal Grade MSM

The basic form of MSM was discovered over 20 years ago but long before studies were done for human nutritional use, it became widely used by race horse owners and veterinarians for successfully combating a wide range of animal complaints. Animal grade MSM, commonly called "Horse Powder" is a basic and impure form of MSM suitable for animal use only. It can and will have benefits to humans but at what cost ? sometimes be detected by a very slight sulphur odor.

[Karl Loren Note:  Indeed, MSM was used in the animal market before it became common for humans. Even know companies that want to avoid a price war will "mark" some regular (human) MSM as "animal grade" as an excuse to sell it cheap.  It is the same stuff as any MSM.

MSM For Horses and Pets

MSM - Crystals

Click here for one of the companies selling "animal MSM."  This is the same stuff as any other MSM, but this deceptive company wants to cut their prices without seeming to cut their prices.

The company whose animal product is here sells "human MSM" at the same price as "animal MSM," but down the line they can and will offer bigger discounts.

MSM containing fillers

Fillers like magnesium stearate are added to many commercial products for bulking purposes i.e. it fills the tubs/capsules up.

[Karl Loren Note: When the material in a capsule is reasonably costly it makes sense to add "fillers" that are much cheaper than the main ingredients. But, when you deal with a single substance, like MSM, which is dirt cheap in large quantities, and which can be tested for fillers with extreme ease, fillers  are just not used -- unless they are put in deliberately to make the powder work better in a capsule filling machine.  Even the US companies sell MSM will fillers -- at the request of the buyers.

There is a simple test which you can do to check if your MSM contains any of the basic fillers like Magnesium Stearate or talc.

1. Depending which form it is in, simply dissolve the contents of about 6 capsules / four tablets or 1 (one) teaspoon of MSM in a glass of warm water (MSM dissolves more quickly in warm water).

2. In the case of Crystals, Powder or Capsules, after fully dissolved, the water in the glass should appear totally clear. If it has a milky or cloudy look it's certain that it contains a filler/s. In the case of Tablets a small amount of Magnesium Stearate and Silicon Dioxide is generally deemed necessary to the tablet making process!

The above test is for fillers only - silicates and flow agents do not show up using this method - see below

MSM Containing Silicates

Flow Agents and Anti-Caking Agents Silicates, flow agents and anti-caking agents are added commercially for product appearance and ease of packing.

[Karl Loren Note:   Not for Vibrant Life MSM.

If the MSM in a tub is like free-flowing powder it is certain to contain one or more flow agents.

Pure organic MSM forms naturally into larger crystals i.e.. The powder in your container should therefore appear like white lumpy crystals!

[Karl Loren Note:  They have it wrong again.  MSM, as it is manufactured, comes out of the process as "cakes" of solid material. They must be ground into smaller sizes.  There is a type of grind called "irregular grind" where the crystals are different sizes -- some small and some large.

Another method of grinding is to grind the MSM cakes and allow them to flow through a screen -- only the pieces small enough to go through the screen are used -- the other material is ground MORE!  Vibrant Life has sold both types.  One common type we sell is "60 mesh" which means that the screen has 60 holes per inch. This is very fine MSM -- like very fine powder.  Larger crystals are the exact same chemical composition.  The fine powder may take less time to dissolve in water.

MSM & HEAVY METALS

Some MSM contained small amounts of heavy metal content - Only high specification laboratory reports revealed these.

[Karl Loren Note: Vibrant Life MSM has a test for heavy metals from SGS, the world's largest independent testing lab.  No metals have been found.  The process of making MSM would not normally provide any metal content, but metals could enter because of dirty equipment or contamination of the air.

Animal Grades and those that cannot imported from the Far East should be avoided.

[Karl Loren Note: What should be avoided is MSM from liars.

WHAT IS MSM?

MSM, or methylsulphonylmethane, is a naturally occurring organic source of nutritional sulfur with multiple functions in the body. It is found in all living organisms and is present in our body fluids and tissues. It is found in many foods such as fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and milk but is commonly lost during storage and cooking. Sulfur is a critical component of many important amino acids contained in our cellular proteins. Simply put, MSM is nutritional sulfur that is essential to a healthy body.

MSM Ia A Bioavailable Sulfur Compound That Occurs Naturally In A Wide Variety Of Unprocessed Food Items. In Addition To Being One Of The Most Abundant Minerals In The Body, Sulfur Is A Component Of Various Amino Acids (Cysteine, Nethionine, Taurine), Vitamins (Thiamin, Pantothenic Acid, Biotin), Antioxident Compounds (Alpha Lipoic Acid, N-Acetylcysteine, Glutathione), Coenzymes (Acetyl Coenzyme A) And Hormones (Insulin). Sulfur Als Contributes To The Formation Of Double Bonds That Give Rise To The Physicial Structures Of Numerous Proteins.

[Karl Loren Note: Those who write psychobabble often use the trick in this paragraph.

They are talking about MSM, which, indeed, is organic sulfur.  However, he then talks about "sulfur" and if you are not quick, you might think he has not changed the subject.

Next to salt and water, MSM is the 3rd largest ingredient found in the body. Sulfur is needed for the proteins of hair, nails and skin as well as glutathione, one of the body’s most important antioxidants. MSM is present in raw fruits, vegetables and some grains but is commonly lost during cooking, food processing and storage.

Scientists know MSM best as an odorless and stable metabolite of DMSO, a compound used in conventional medicine to treat scleroderma and chronic urinary bladder inflammation (interstitial cystitis).

WHY MSM?

MSM is a natural compound that our bodies utilize each and every day. It needs to be replaced every day. Good health practices involve replacing essential substances that our bodies naturally use up or lose through illness or abuse. MSM is the flexible bond between proteins. When a cell dies, a new cell takes its place. Without the needed amount of MSM, it attaches but becomes rigid. When tissues lose their flexibility, problems develop. Without the proper amount of MSM in our bodies, the amino acids will continue to build the glands, but fail to produce the correct enzymes, making us prone to unnecessary illness.

Next to oxygen, water, and salt, MSM is the fourth most needed element in human and animal nutrition. Sulfur is involved in nearly every metabolic process in the body, and is essential in the regeneration and nourishment of healthy cells. Our bodies are made so that they produce new cells 24 hours a day. It is very important that our glands put out the right enzymes and hormones to regulate and keep our bodies healthy. Without the proper amount of sulfur or MSM in our system, our bodies produce bad, dysfunctional cells, deficient in the basic ingredients that constitute a healthy cell. When our system is deficient in MSM, our bodies cannot make enough good cells to overcome the effects of the bad cells. We then are subject to various illnesses, aches, pains and allergies until we correct the problem with good healthy cells. The body wants to heal itself, if it can get the proper nourishment. We need to supplement our diets with MSM to enable the body to heal itself. MSM helps our bodies utilize the vitamins that we take, providing the means to derive the maximum benefit from those vitamins. MSM plays a major role in the processes that create a vital healthy body As we age, the concentration of MSM in the body decreases. The surest way to maintain adequate levels of MSM in the body is to replenish it with a manufactured supplement.

MSM is rated as one of the least toxic substances in biology. MSM is no more toxic than water and can never hurt anyone. Common table salt is much more toxic than MSM. MSM has been widely tested as a food ingredient without any reports of allergic reactions. Everyone can use MSM.

One may be allergic to the sulfa, sulfide and sulfate forms of the sulfur family. These are the ones used as components of drugs and preservatives. Sulfonyl is also in the sulfur family, however, it is a nutritional form of sulfur and you cannot be allergic to it. MSM is completely water-soluble so if you overdose, the extra MSM becomes inert and just passes through your system. Your body will use what it needs and, over eight to twelve hours or so will flush out whatever MSM it doesn't need.

Nutritional sulfur is an essential raw material that one's body uses to nourish and heal itself. You need it to survive. About half of the body's total sulfur is concentrated in the muscles, while the other half is found in the brain, hair, skin and bones.

Sulfur is one of the five basic elements of life. In fact, sulfur is the fourth most abundant mineral in the body. The proper acid alkaline balance of the body cannot be maintained without it. Sulfur is vital to the creation and regeneration of the body's tissues. Sulfur is an indispensable component in human nutuition. It is found in every cell in the body. Sulfur itself is held mainly in the muscles, skin, bones, nails and hair. MSM provides the essential sulfur necessary for a number of body compounds. MSM supplements has been known to relieve acne, acid reflux, alertness, allergies, alzheimers, arthritis, asthma, back pain, blood circulation, bursitis, cancer, candida, carpal tunnel syndrome, cholesterol, chronic fatigue, colon cancer, chronic headaches, concentration, constipation, detoxifies the body, diabetes, diverticulosis, emphysema, eye health, Fibromyalgia, gerd, heart burn, gastrointestinal problems, leg cramps, lung dysfunction, lupus, memory loss, migraines, muscle pain, nail and hair problems, parasites, reduces scar tissue, snoring, stress, TMJ., Tendinitis, ulcers. The body uses amino acids and particularly Vitamin C intake is also important with the use of MSM. One of the oddest things about MSM supplements is that it can help produce a solid base energy and at the same time it helps a person to be calm. MSM supplementation can help the body replace bad cells with good healthy elastic cells. Over time, wrinkles will go away, and brown and black spots and skin tumors can flow away as new cells replace the bad.

Our body requires MSM daily to build healthy flexible cell tissue. MSM encourages the body to purge itself of toxic accumulation, even aiding the liver in its waste delivery and rebuilding process with the addition of B vitamin supplements.

Every 12 hours MSM is diminished and needs to be replaced in the system. The body produces new cells 24 hours a day and if the body is not receiving proper nutrition, including MSM, we develop poor, dysfunctional cells that harden and become leathery or scarred.

A deficiency of MSM can result in fatigue and an increased susceptibility to allergies, muscle spasms and cramps, generalized soreness, infection, arthritis, hair loss, numerous skin diseases and a variety of problems in the intestinal and urogenital tract (bladder and kidneys).

95% of MSM users report that ENERGY is the first result.

WHAT DOES MSM DO?

MSM is a free radical scavenger, so allergies to food and pollens will go away. MSM also prevents overreaction to other medicines, so it does not work against any medications. MSM controls acidity in the stomach, so it can help ulcers. MSM coats the intestinal tract so parasites lose their ability to hang on. They are then flushed away. This could prevent colon problems. MSM detoxifies the body and increases blood circulation. Because there are few nerves in the bones, our pain comes from the soft tissue. Aspirin shuts off the nerves, but the muscles are still damaged. MSM takes out the inflammation, permits the muscles to heal and prevents them from becoming sore. If you play sports or workout in a gym and normally get sore muscles the next day, take MSM before you exercise and you will notice a difference. If taken after exercise, the soreness will go away faster. Beneficial effects from regular usage of MSM have been reported for alleviating arthritis, improved flexibility, smoother skin, healthier hair and nails and faster and better healing from surgical procedures or wounds.

Research indicates that perhaps sulfur's most important health role is in carbohydrate metabolism, which is significant for hypoglycemics and diabetics. Sulfur is a significant component of insulin, the protein hormone secreted by the pancreas that is essential to the metabolism of carbohydrates. A lack of nutritional sulfur in the diet can result in low insulin production. On the other hand, a diet that contains adequate amounts of sulfur might increase the body's ability to produce insulin to the point where insulin injections can be reduced.

One of the oddest things about MSM is that when taken in sufficient amounts, it gives tremendous energy and at the same time, it helps one to be calm. Creativity increases. Apparently MSM allows each cell in one's body to breathe better; and energy, health and relaxation comprise our natural state. In this state we are more attuned to our surroundings and creativity flourishes.

Standard adult doses (6 - 12 grams daily) are most effective when combined with vitamin C (3 - 6 grams daily). Side effects and toxicity have not been reported.

HOW MUCH MSM SHOULD I TAKE?

The amount of MSM required to obtain maximum benefit will vary among individuals and according to need. The body uses up 1/8 teaspoon of MSM each day during resting time alone. Active bodies or ailing bodies need more. In general, taking about 750 milligrams of MSM for every 45 pounds of body weight (spread out in two or three servings over the course of the day) is a good amount. It is suggested you begin with one 750 mg tablet two or three times a day and increase as desired, up to five tablets two or three times a day. The benefit of MSM will further be enhanced when 2,000 mg or more of Vitamin C is consumed. You may want to experiment with larger amounts over time, but start out slowly. MSM helps your body rid itself of stored toxins and if you proceed too quickly your may experience unpleasant side effects such as irritability or what is known as a liver headache. Such symptoms can indicate that your body is cleaning out so quickly that your kidneys and liver and lymph system are being overworked. If you find this occurring to you, reduce the amount of MSM that you are taking for a few days until your body has processed out more of its accumulated garbage.

How do you know when you have found the right amount? That will take a little time. Simply pay close attention to how your feel and to your overall energy level. At any rate, life's circumstances change, as do our needs. When you are under stress, you may find that temporarily increasing the MSM a little will help you over the rough spots.

HOW SOON WILL I NOTICE RESULTS?

A single dose of MSM is usually not effective in relieving symptoms. Noticeable results are usually seen within 2 to 21 days. The amount of MSM in each dose is not critical. The minimum individual dose is about 750-1,000 mg. However, total daily dosages of 1,500 to 5,000 mg are recommended (2,500 to 5,000 mg being preferable).

Everyone's body will respond differently and different conditions will take longer to heal. MSM is helping your body heal itself. Some conditions are relieved in days, while others may take months. MSM can only help the body's natural healing process. There are no guarantees associated with use of the product because everyone's body is different. The body will always benefit from MSM, but in different ways for different people.

NOTE: DETOXIFICATION

Starting on MSM, some users notice signs of an initial detoxification. These include headache, loose stool, fatigue and nausea, lasting a 1 to 14 days - the uncomfortable but welcome signs of cellular cleansing. If detoxification symptoms are unbearable, reduce the amount of MSM until symptoms subside. Do not stop taking the MSM. Your end result will greatly outweigh the temporary discomfort of detoxification.

If MSM is found in all foods, why do we need to supplement with MSM?

Sulfur content in processed foods is low or non-existent. A conventional diet does not supply the minimum requirement of MSM. Because of its volatile nature, MSM is quickly lost from food when it is processed, cooked, and/or stored. When your body uses the MSM molecule to produce a new cell, the MSM is lost forever. We need to continuously replace the body’s supply of MSM to produce new and healthy cells. The second you pick fruit or vegetable from the tree or vine, it begins rapidly losing the MSM. It is absent in synthetic food additives, dietary mineral compositions, food substitutes, and most fillers used to dilute or modify foods. Even in meat MSM is not abundant as it used to be. Today, animals are being fed with dried, stored grasses, hay, and grains, deficient in MSM. With today's modern diet of cooked and otherwise processed and diluted foods most if not all, diets of civilized man are deficient in this critically important ingredient.
